Jeremy Ray Leisure
I have struggled with my mental health for most of my life. Art and photography have been a way of expressing how I feel, both have ended up saving my life on many accounts. The work that I have made can be thought of as a self-reflection exercise. The images that I have made are all unique and cannot be replicated. Art has been an outlet for my emotions and a way to describe my need for control, controlling what I cannot control. The desire to control what I can’t control is always lingering over my head. My diagnosis can be a pretty heavy topic, and I find it easier to describe it through photographs than actually speaking about my illness and my other issues that come along with mental health. My work focuses on making my “Invisible Illness” visible to others.
